DC boss James Gunn has given an exciting update on the next incarnation of Wonder Woman.

In a May 2025 call with investors, Warner Bros. Discovery head David Zaslav named Wonder Woman alongside Superman, Batman, and Supergirl as the major characters in Gunn and Peter Safran’s 10-year plan for DC.

Now, speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Gunn has confirmed that a Wonder Woman movie is in development.

Wonder Woman‘s a separate thing, slow moving, but it’s moving,” Gunn said. “We’re working on Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman’s being written right now.”

Gunn also confirmed that he has not yet cast the role of Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman, who was previously played by Gal Gadot.

Speaking about Zaslav’s singling out of DC’s four pillars, Gunn said: “I think that’s accurate, actually.

“I think that he got that from something I said. I wouldn’t say only those four characters, but I would say that those four characters are incredibly important to us,” he added.

“Right now, I feel great about where two of those characters are, and then we’re dealing with the other two.”

Back in 2023, Gunn announced that a Wonder Woman prequel series titled Paradise Lost was in the works, though updates have been few and far between.

At the time of its announcement Gunn said: “It’s almost like Game of Thrones with Westeros, but with all of the inhabitants of Paradise Island.

“It’s an origin story of how this society of women came about. What does it mean? What are their politics like? What are their rules? Who’s in charge? What are the games that they play with each other to get to the top?”

Meanwhile, the next DC movie to hit cinemas is Superman which opens next month. The film sees David Corenswet take on the role of Clark Kent / Superman as he tries to reconcile his alien heritage with his adoptive human family.

Nicholas Hoult stars as villain Lex Luthor with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel‘s Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.

Superman opens in cinemas on 11 July.
