There’s been a wealth of recent cinema releases that you likely missed or may want to give a rewatch.

Luckily, these movies are now available to stream in the UK via digital home release, and Digital Spy has rounded up a few recent entries, including Sinners and The Amateur.

So take a look below at our list of five top recent releases that you can buy or rent from the comfort of your sofa.

The Amateur

This spy thriller received a mixed to positive reception upon its release in April, though features a stellar cast including Oscar-winner Rami Malek, Superman‘s Rachel Brosnahan and The Matrix‘s Laurence Fishburne.

The Amateur is based on the Robert Littell novel and follows a brilliant and introverted CIA decoder who goes rogue when his wife is killed in a London terrorist attack. Digital Spy called the movie “gripping” in our four-star review.

Opus

The Bear‘s Ayo Edebiri stars in this twisted thriller, which follows a writer who travels to the compound of a disappeared pop star (John Malkovich), finding herself in a cult as she soon discovers his twisted plans for the gathering.

The movie comes from Mark Anthony Green and features an impressive wider cast, including Yellowjackets‘ Juliette Lewis, The White Lotus‘ Murray Bartlett and Prey‘s Amber Midthunder.

Opus wasn’t a huge hit with critics though, earning a 40% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Its box office didn’t fare much better – taking just over $2 million globally. You can judge for yourself now it’s available to watch digitally.

Mr Burton

A real-life drama about the early life of legendary actor Richard Burton, Mr Burton stars Industry‘s Harry Lawtey as the titular star alongside Mr Bates vs The Post Office‘s Toby Jones as schoolmaster and mentor Philip Burton and The Critic‘s Lesley Manville as landlady Ma Smith.

Known then as Richard Jenkins, the movie looks at the future screen star in Port Talbot as he is caught between the “pressures of his struggling family, a devastating war, and his own ambitions”, before his talent catches the eye of Philip Burton.

Mr Burton comes from director Marc Evans and earned acclaim from critics, sitting at an impressive 83% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Penguin Lessons

Steve Coogan stars in this real-life story of an Englishman called Tom Michell who moves to Argentina to take up a teaching role, and rescues a penguin from an oil slick who changes his life. Released back in April, the movie attracted a solid critical reception, with a Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Penguin Lessons is based on Michell’s own book of the same name, and is helmed by The Full Monty‘s Peter Cattaneo. Starring alongside Coogan is Spy‘s Björn Gustafsson, Cha Cha Cha‘s Vivian El Jaber and Slow Horses‘ Jonathan Pryce.

Sinners

The supernatural horror flick Sinners has become one of the year’s biggest unexpected hits, breaking records and attracting critical acclaim – not to mention its huge box office success, sitting as the eighth-highest grossing movie of 2025 so far.

The Ryan Coogler film stars Michael B Jordan as twins Smoke and Stack, who return to their hometown to start a juke joint, only to encounter terrifying supernatural forces. Hawkeye‘s Hailee Steinfeld, SAS: Rogue Heroes‘ Jack O’Connell and Loki‘s Wunmi Mosaku also star.
